MovieMatch Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of MovieMatch at https://www.moviematch.cloud, independently operated as a hobby project by Kyle Clearo, based in Orlando, Florida, United States ("MovieMatch," "we," "us"). Contact us at moviematchsupport@gmail.com.

1. Accepting these Terms

By using MovieMatch, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

MovieMatch is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 years old to use it. If applicable law in your location requires a higher minimum age or parental consent, you must also meet that requirement.

2. What MovieMatch provides

MovieMatch helps you discover movies, record ratings, create lists, and find suggestions based on your preferences and selected streaming services. Recommendations are suggestions and may not match your tastes.

Movie descriptions, release information, and streaming availability may be incomplete or outdated. Check availability, regional restrictions, subscription requirements, and prices directly with the relevant streaming provider before purchasing or subscribing. MovieMatch does not grant rights to watch or download a movie, and does not sell or process payments for streaming access.

MovieMatch is currently offered free of charge. If we introduce paid features in the future, we will update these Terms with complete pricing, billing, cancellation, and refund information before those features go live, and you will not be charged without a clear opportunity to review and accept those terms first.

3. Your account

MovieMatch automatically creates an anonymous account so you can save your information without providing an email address. You may optionally link an email address and password to preserve access across browsers and devices.

Clearing browser data without linking an email may cause you to lose access to the anonymous account; it does not delete server-side data associated with that account. Provide accurate information when linking an email, and keep your sign-in credentials secure. Do not use another person's account without permission. Contact us if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.

4. Acceptable use

You may use MovieMatch for lawful purposes only. You must not:

• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to MovieMatch, other users' accounts, or the systems behind it
• Disrupt, overload, or interfere with the service, including through automated scraping or excessive automated requests
• Attempt to bypass rate limits, security measures, or bot-detection systems
• Distribute malware or harmful code through the service
• Use MovieMatch to violate another person's privacy or intellectual property rights

We may investigate and take appropriate action, including suspending or terminating access, against anyone who violates this section.

5. Your content

MovieMatch currently allows you to submit ratings and create private lists. These are not publicly visible and are not shared with other users. You retain any rights you hold in this content.

By submitting content, you grant MovieMatch a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, and process it only as needed to provide the service to you — for example, to display your own ratings and lists back to you and to generate your personalized recommendations. We do not use your content to train third-party AI models or for advertising purposes.

You are responsible for having the necessary rights to any content you submit.

6. MovieMatch and third-party materials

MovieMatch's software, branding, and original materials belong to their respective owners. These Terms permit your use of the service; they do not transfer ownership of those materials or grant you a right to redistribute third-party movie artwork or data.

MovieMatch uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Other service names, logos, artwork, and movie information belong to their respective owners. Third-party websites and streaming services linked from MovieMatch have their own terms, which govern your use of those services.

7. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. Accepting these Terms does not mean you have consented to any optional marketing or tracking beyond what's described in that policy.

8. Suspension and ending use

You may stop using MovieMatch at any time. To request deletion of your account and associated data, contact us at the support email above — ideally from the same browser/device where your account was created, or using your linked email if you've created one, so we can verify the request.

We may restrict or suspend your access if reasonably necessary to address a material violation of these Terms, a security risk, or a legal requirement. Where reasonably possible and permitted by law, we will explain the action taken and provide a way to contact us about it.

9. Availability and responsibility

We aim to provide a useful service, but cannot promise uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or that every recommendation or third-party listing will be accurate.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. MovieMatch is a hobby project operated by an individual, and we do not guarantee any particular level of support, uptime, or continued availability. Nothing in these Terms excludes any consumer guarantee, remedy, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms as the service changes. We will publish the revised version on this page along with an updated effective date. Continued use of MovieMatch after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If a change is significant, we will make reasonable efforts to highlight it (for example, with an in-app notice).

11. Applicable law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable consumer protection law in your own jurisdiction requires otherwise and cannot be waived. If you are a consumer located outside the United States, nothing in these Terms removes protections you're entitled to under the mandatory law of your own country or state of residence.
